US paytech Stax Payments has announced the appointment of Mark Sundt as its new chief technology officer (CTO), succeeding Chris Staymates who will return to his role as Stax’s chief innovation officer.

Sundt brings vast executive experience as a technology leader from heavyweight financial institutions like Microsoft and a payments solutions firm Clearant. His recent role as IBM’s principal client engineering squad lead focused on AI technologies, which Stax expects him to leverage to transform internal productivity and enhance client engagement.

In addition to appointing Sundt, Stax has named Paulette Rowe as CEO recently and acquired Atlantic-Pacific Processing Systems last year. Stax aims to accelerate product delivery and AI integration under Sundt’s leadership to enhance payment capabilities and achieve success in the evolving tech landscape.
