Stripe’s engineer flees hedge fund Balyasny, embraces London, sparks revolution.

January 29, 2024

Stripe, the payments giant, has hired Bogdan Cozmaciuc as an engineer. Cozmaciuc previously worked at hedge fund Balyasny, where he was a staff software engineer and designed trading applications. He also worked on a state-of-the-art NLP platform. Stripe has been successful in attracting engineers from banks and tech firms, but hedge fund technologists have been harder to come by. On average, Stripe paid its software engineers $370k in 2023, which is lower than what Balyasny paid its staff in London on average. Cozmaciuc joined Balyasny two years ago after working at Man Group for six years. He started his career at Morgan Stanley.
